RDA Name Authorities--What's new and different from AACR2

October 17, 2012

All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.

RDA enables a name authority record to be a much more dynamic tool in the bibliographic universe than an AACR2 authority record. Attributes or identifying characteristics of a name may be recorded in an RDA authority record, thereby enabling that authority record to serve current and future bibliographic needs in a much more dynamic way. This webinar will explore the differences between an AACR2 "two-dimensional" authority record and the much more robust and dynamic "three-dimensional" RDA authority record.

Learning outcomes: Attendees will gain an appreciation and an understanding of the dynamism that RDA brings to description of the FRBR Group Two Entities through name authority work.
Who should attend? Anyone new to authority work or experienced in authority work.
Presenter: Paul Frank is a Cooperative cataloging specialist in the Cooperative and Instructional Programs Division (COIN) at the Library of Congress (LC). The PCC Secretariat is in the COIN Division. Frank has worked with the PCC Secretariat since 2004.
