March: Hosting a Personal Digital Archiving Day Event
Date: March 20, 2013
All webinars are one hour in length and begin at 11am Pacific, noon Mountain, 1pm Central, and 2pm Eastern time.
This webinar discusses how to host an innovative public program on preserving personal digital information.
In an effort to share knowledge on how best to care for personal digital information, The Library of Congress’ National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program developed The Personal Digital Archiving Day Kit. The toolkit provides resources for staff at libraries, archives and other cultural institutions to help them plan and present a personal digital archiving day program.
This webinar focuses on the resources included in the kit, how the kit can be used to plan a public program, and why holding a personal digital archiving program is beneficial for both public libraries and their communities.
Learning outcomes: Learn practical tips for hosting a personal digital archiving day event.
Learn about resources on digital preservation that can help individuals preserve their digital files, photos, videos, emails, and social media.
Who should attend? Librarians and other information professionals interested in hosting a public event on how to preserve personal digital information.
Presenter: Erin Engle is a Digital Archivist with the National Digital Information Infrastructure and Preservation Program at the Library of Congress. She coordinates and contributes to communications, outreach, and social media activities for the Program, works on developing personal digital archiving resources, and is Editor of the monthly Library of Congress Digital Preservation Newsletter.
