The growing demand for accountability in the higher education industry has created new challenges for institutions. Accrediting agencies are holding schools accountable for the implementation of learning outcomes that are evidence-based while the Federal Government adds to the pressure by taking a consumer protection viewpoint due their involvement with student loan disbursement.
Now more than ever, institutions must consider the value of meeting these emerging accreditation standards by starting with the course design process. Well written learning outcomes, the heart of course design, serve as a critical component for successfully delivering courses and programs that demonstrate student learning that satisfies the expectation of accreditors and the Federal Government.
Join Pearson and Palm Beach Atlantic University on May 23rd, 2PM EST for an interactive presentation during which we will discuss:
- The hierarchy of learning outcomes which provides a link starting from the program level to the courses within a program, communicating to the students what is expected and how it will be measured
- How to write evidence-based learning outcomes using examples demonstrating observable behavior
- Clarification of the issues raised by the Federal Government regarding contact hours, seat time and learning outcome equivalencies in online learning
