Oct: A More Effective Social Media Presence: Strategic Planning and Project Management

2-Part workshop takes place Wednesdays, October 2 and 9, 2013 at 2:30pm Eastern/1:30pm Central/12:30pm Mountain/11:30am Pacific

Social media has grown up -- now rather than just “friending” users, librarians are expected to manage their libraries’ vast online social media presence and demonstrate return on investment for all those services. In two webcast sessions, Cliff Landis and Sarah Steiner will share details of how to assess, plan, and create internal documentation for your social media, so that your online presence will be easy to manage and on-target. They will also demonstrate ways to make the best use of your time, create social media content that matters to users, and identify the best practices used by leading libraries.

Topics include:

  • Making use of strategic planning and project management methods to set up (or fix up) your library’s social media presence
  • Defining success for your social media presence and demonstrate that it’s having the effect you desire
  • Taking practical steps to successfully start a new social media account or to integrate a new account into your existing social media presence
  • Using time-saving tools and techniques to spread your library’s messages across a variety of social media sites
  • Identifying the best practices employed by other libraries in their social media management.
