Electronic resources have more complexity in license agreements and pricing terms than other library materials, and librarians must be assertive in negotiating for these resources in this time of budget cuts and uncertainty. The librarian who accepts prices and terms as they are given is not getting the best possible deal for the library. Vendors are often more willing to negotiate than the librarian might expect. In this presentation, we will discuss successful negotiation strategies for pricing and terms of library e-resources.
Learning Outcomes
Attendees will come away from this webinar with new strategies for assertive and balanced negotiation, and an awareness of possible pitfalls in the process.
