This is a course designed to help you get more out of both Web-based search engines and commercial databases commonly encountered in public library settings, so that you can make the most effective use of your time and your library patrons' time! Realistic search exercises about topics of high patron demand -- health information and fiction--will keep you focused and grounded in the real world of library reference. We will focus on Google and Bing, but the search strategies we cover in this class will translate to other engines and other search settings than "just" the World Wide Web.
