April
22 (1-2 pm Mountain)
This
two-part Webinar series will teach you the basics of providing consumer health
information at your library. Cheryl Rowan (Consumer Health Coordinator for the
National Network of Libraries of Medicine, South Central Region) will provide
an overview of the evolution of consumer health and then focus in on health
literacy and the e-patient. Participants will be equipped with knowledge of top
consumer health sites, e-patient resources, collection development core lists,
and consumer health ethics. As this is such an essential topic for libraries,
staff are encouraged to view these webinars in groups. A hands-on exercise will
be provided during part one and participants will be encouraged to complete it
(along with fellow library staff, if applicable) prior to attending part two,
when the answers to the exercise will be discussed.
