Learning Objects are reusable online tools that provide instruction to specific audiences. Librarians can make use of Learning Objects to provide point of need instruction via a library website, subject guide or virtual frequently asked questions. They can also be grouped and packaged to create a mini-curriculum or incorporated into full blown courses. Learning Objects provide opportunities for our users to gain knowledge about research concepts or library services at their own pace and to review the content and/or activities as many times as they need to retain the concept or skill.

This workshop will provide an introduction to learning objects, defining what they are, why they are used and best practices. Tools for the creation and implementation of learning objects will be identified and discussed.
